Foreign tourists visiting Argentina will be able to open a bimonetary savings bank account and access to financial services and electronic means of payment, with the inherent benefits of transparency and security, to the extent that they have a bank account in their home country which will be the only one empowered to transfer currency to the local account.
Tourists will be able to open the account without needing to be in person, or they can open it when arriving to the country showing their passport. The account must be opened with the name of a foreign tourist. These accounts can be used for purchases in stores in pesos in the country, by card and through digital banking applications, and to make cash withdrawals from national currency. They shall also have the possibility of carrying out financial operations for the exchange of currency.
If there is a balance in the customer’s account in foreign currency at the end of their stay, the entity must transfer it automatically to the account in the country of origin and proceed to its closure.
