Estancia La Estela is situated in the patagonian steppe in the mythical Route 40, between El Chaltén and El Calafate. We have the alternative to visit it when going from one city to the other. The activity begins in the stable with our docile horses with which we will enjoy an unforgettable ride through the Estancia´s fields and lake Viedma shore. From here, if weather conditions are good, we might see Fitz Roy and Torre Hills. The steppe flora and fauna will amaze us everywhere. We will see large bushes of the most important fruit of the region: the “calafate” and talking about fauna, we will see guanacos, choiques, foxes and armadillos.

If we are lucky, we might be able to see puma´s traces that inhabit this region.

After arriving to the lake, we will start the return to a point where we will have the opportunity to descend La Leona river by boat. Once back into the Estancia, we will enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner (depending if we choose going in the morning or in the afternoon) and then we will continue our journey to El Calafate or El Chaltén.  This tour can be done starting at El Calafate and continuing to El Chaltén or the other way round, or even leaving and returning to the same point.  You can also choose to enjoy a longer horseback ride (3 hours long) and not doing the boat descent.
