We will depart from Calafate taking route number 11, until we reach the nationl route number 40 towards El Chaltén. We will stop at La Leona situated on the banks of the homonymous river. We continue to provincial route number 23 up to a small town, located at the foot of Cerro Fitz Roy. In this case we continue to route number 41 for about 37 kilometers of gravel along Río La Vueltas, offering wonderful views of the forest, waterfalls and lagoons, ending at Lago del Desierto. At this point you start navigating for about 20 minutes on this lake sorrounded by mountains and with an excellent view of the Fitz Roy.
Arriving to Vespignani Bay, you will appreciate a wonderful view of Vespignani Glacier.
Once we disembark, we will walk 200 metres through the forest. The group can choose between two activities: take a trek through the forest and the coast of the lake stopping to have a picnic or, take a 30 / 40 minutes up to the panoramic point from which you see the Vespignani glacier. Both hikes arrive at the bridge over Vespignani River. Both paths are signaled. We will return to the boat and then we will return to Calafate.
