Río de las Vueltas is one of the most important rivers in the region, cause it takes water from the melting of the glaciers. This tour will allow you to connect with deep emotions: the river, the mountains and the andean patagonian forest, in a different, amazing and funny way. You will enjoy spectacular Fitz Roy´s views, different from the ones you get from the paths. This marvellous river is born in Lago del Desierto, and it descends towards Lago Viedma doing numerous curves through lenga forests and vertical walls. Kayak descent is suitable for beginners as well as experienced ones. For doing this activity it´s not necessary to have experience in rowing, but you will have to have good physical conditions.

This activity is recommended for people who walk or do aerobic sports regularly and have good physical conditions for their age.

We have to show up at the office at 10.15. We will take a vehicle that will take us to “Laguna Cóndor”, mountain shelter situated 20 kilometers far from Chaltén, in the heart of Río de las Vueltas valley.  At 11 o´clock we will be at the shelter where the kayak guide awaits to give us a brief and informative talk  and  indications about the activity. Each participants will be assisted with the equipment and the suitable clothes and  safety elements (suits, boots, gloves, life vest and helmet) provided by the company. Once ready and with all the equipment, the guide will give train you with rowing techniques and safety indications. All the participants will get on the kayaks to go into Laguna Cóndor to practice before starting with the descent. Guides will be there to correct the techniques. By midday, everyone will be paddling in one of Patagonia´s most beautiful valleys sorrounded by a landscape of native forest, mountains, glaciers with unique views of the Fitz Roy.

In the middle of the tour we will have a stop at Bonanza to have a box lunch and recharge energies and continue the journey. The descent ends at El Chaltén where you can change your clothes.
