Entrance to the Milodón Cave Natural Monument
On this excursion we will visit the Cueva del Milodon Natural Monument, one of the most important Paleontological sites in South America and one of the oldest human settlements in Patagonia. We start the day leaving the city of Puerto Natales to head towards the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument, located about 24 kilometers north of the city. Here we will visit the Milodon cave, where Hermann Eberhard, the province’s first settler, discovers a piece of skin from an unknown animal.
At that time would come to light to the surprise of scientists and researchers around the world, a new now extinct species that was discovered, the Milodón. After this, you will visit the cave paintings of the area, manifestations that date back 5,000 years in a sector known as Dos Herraduras. We will go to a conglomerate almost 40 meters high known as the Devil’s Chair to enjoy a picnic in the middle of a beautiful natural environment. In the course we will visit the middle cave, used as a human settlement, by the first migration of the Paleoindian or Primitive Indian.
